Participants!

Lonsdale District (which is basically Lancaster and Morecambe) has selected Four Scouts to be part of a County Team (West Lancs, Unit 80) of 40 people who will join up with a national group (UK) of 3000 participants, who will fly to Sweden and join the Jamboree

Our four participants are:

Harriet Butterfield -
"I'm a sixth-former at Queen Elizabeth School, Kirkby Lonsdale, and have been with Scouts for over 6 years, since I turned 11. My favourite moment in Scouting was when I became a Young Leader, and went to the County Camp for Explorers. We did all of those ridiculously muddy activities, but thoroughly enjoyed it. Then soon got wet. And now I seem to be a fan of camping. At first I didn't really know a lot about the Jamboree, until someone had mentioned it to my mum, who thought it as a brilliant experience, and nudged me into this direction. And now that I'm going, I can't wait to set off."

Matthew Alpin -
"I'm a student at Ripley St Thomas School in Lancaster. I have been a Scout for eight years and have loved every moment of it! My favourite times were testing a zipwire or maybe messing about in boats with my scouting friends! I'm really pleased to be going to the Jamboree. When I found out that I had a chance to go I was so excited, and then when the letter came, telling me I had got on, I was over the moon! I'm going to put everything into the jamboree and hope I get alot in return!"

James Harries -
"I am in Year 10 at Lancaster Royal Grammar school, I have been a member of the scouting movement for 9 years and have been through every year of Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. I am now a member of the Silverdaliens Explorer Scout Unit. I love going to Scouts every Tuesday and messing about with friends, having a laugh and learning new skills. I was so pleased to get on the Jamboree. The letter was in a really thin envelope and I wasn't very optimistic when I started to open it, but when I saw the big "Congratulations" at the top I was speechless. I'm looking forward to meeting new people at the Jamboree and I will put loads into it so I can get the most I possibly can out of it."

Scott Prichard -
"I'm a student at Morecambe Community High School in Year 12, Lower Sixth. I have been part of scouting for all of my life, and I'm enjoying every last bit of it! I am a member of Lune Valley Explorer Unit and also one of the Lonsdale Young Leaders. I have gained my Young Leader belt. I also go up to Great Tower Activity Scout Camp Site as part of a service crew which is worth every moment of my time."
